Battery Recycling: Frequently Asked Questions

Car batteries should never be thrown in the trash or in a dumpster. They must be recycled appropriately. If you have a large volume of these (1000 or more / 42,000 lbs), contact us for pricing. If you have less, call your local battery store, auto repair shop, or recycling yard to find a location where you can drop off your spent car battery.

Automotive batteries must be packaged in accordance with DOT over the road safety regulation onto sturdy pallets with cardboard sheets placed on the pallet, in between all battery layers, and on top of the batteries. All layers must be shrink wrapped and plastic banded to the pallet for secure shipping.

Industrial batteries must be packaged in accordance with DOT over the road safety regulation onto sturdy pallets with cardboard sheets placed on the pallet, in between all battery layers, and on top of the batteries. All batteries must be secured to the pallet with plastic banding to prevent shifting during transport. Wooden strips and 2x4s may also be used to secure the batteries. All terminals must be capped or covered.
